Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Job Specialty: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Job Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00-07:00 Guaranteed Hours: Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) & Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Must-Have: - PCU experience - Knowledge of cardiac rhythms and surgical patients - Chest tube management, epidurals Job Description: - Provide care in a 15-bed unit with 22 staff members, including RNs and PCTs (Patient Care Technicians).- Manage patient ratios of 4-5:1 during night shifts with 3-4 RNs and 1 PCT.- Operate equipment such as Cardiac Telemetry, Chest tubes, and administer Cardiac drips (NTG, Cardizem, Amiodarone).- Care for post-cath patients, post-surgical patients including open heart, lung patients, general surgery, and post-op orthopedic patients requiring cardiac monitoring.- Utilize electronic medical record system Meditech.- Demonstrate strong teamwork and time management skills with a high turnover of patients.- Perform typical unit procedures including post-cardiac cath care, EP studies, device placements, groin management, chest tubes, post-op surgical care, critical drips, epidurals, and PCA management.- Float between ICU (handling PCU type patients), PCU, and Med-surg (taking up to 5 patients) as needed.- Exhibit an outgoing, team-oriented mindset and willingness to go above and beyond for patients.- Maintain professional attire in navy or white scrubs, which can be mixed or matched.- Work every other weekend or fulfill 4 weekend shifts.
